How Microsoft Sold Me LINUX

I became interested in LINUX in the Fall of 1998 after attending a Microsoft seminar on their soon-to-be-released Office 2000 office suite. At the time I had gotten Win 98 on a new Pentium 233 MMX system and LOVED it! Win 98 indeed was a welcome relief from the problem-plagued Win 95 I had used at home and at work. To follow is an account of my experiences with LINUX:

What turned me off of Microsoft was the arrogant attitude reflected by the guy hosting the seminar. I had asked him IN PRIVATE after the seminar what seemed a reasonable question about the security of their Outlook email client which comes with their office suite. As I had subscribed to their security update bulletins, I was well familiar with the problems they had been having with this and their IE4 product. The man became quite hostile with me, contradicting Microsoft's own bulletins and other facts I knew to be true. At one point I thought I would be leaving the hotel with a bloody nose!! HARDLY the way to sell someone on a product that would cost as much as TWO CAR PAYMENTS!! (or half a month's rent in the bad section of LA)
